Getting Going

Having knowledge and tools is one thing, getting to work is quite another. This section provides structure on how to build out your preparedness along the coastal communities using the following:

  • The House: this could also be “the home” but focuses on an individual’s dwelling point and outbuildings. Even for those involved in the response, this is important because the home provides the anchor or safe point to return to when the work is done. Taking care of the homes helps reduce the workload during the response and recovery phases.
  • The Community: this can be described in terms of a collection or group of homes supported by some common infrastructure (like arenas, schools, government offices, etc.). This has two aspects to it. First, the general preparedness of the homes and other infrastructure points is looked at. Second, coordinating the services and activities that affect multiple homes and areas comes into play.

Both of these find information both on the Resources and Current Conditions pages.
