Natural Resources Canada (NRC) has published the 2025 seasonal forest fire forecasts on its interactive page. While April and May appear decent for April and May, we are seeing a split roughly around Lake Winnipeg in June. Beginning June, areas west of Lake Winnipeg begin to show “high” levels of risk while Ontario remains moderate and the east remains Low. The southern prairies begin to move into the very high to extreme beginning in August.
For those in higher-risk areas, the Resources page provides links to the Firesmart Canada program, the Canadian Wildfire Information System and the provincial wildfire services maps across Canada. These resources can provide homeowners and others with useful information on preparing for the season.
As with any longer-term forecasts, changes may occur over time.
